Our 17th Blue Plaque Unveiling: Wednesday’s Jimmy (James) Lang Saturday 21st November 2026 -
Sheffield Home of Football will be unveiling its next blue plaque for the world's very first professional footballer who moved towns for one reason only, to be paid to play association football.
That footballer was Sheffield Wednesday's Jimmy Lang. Lang moved from Glasgow to Sheffield in late 1876, exactly 150 years ago.
The unveiling will happen at 11:00 AM on Garden Street on the south side of the STUDENT ROOST building.
All welcome!!
